We enjoyed our Tamarindo Casa. Lots to do, lots to see, Andrew is a happy helpful kind of guy.

Little pool is great, Casa Vail was spacious and comfortable. It's not fancy but has tons of character. You don't need a car in Tamarindo and if you book a tour they will pick you up at the house, however we wish we had rented a golf cart or ATV for a couple of days. We would highly recommend the monkey and crocodile riverboat tour in the national park as well as the sunset catamaran cruise - ask Andrew which one. Stuff is a little more expensive then you might think but most places accept US money. They give you change in colones so if you're using dollars instead of a debit card, it's good to have small bills too.

Great Place!

Cottage was perfect for single or a couple. Really enjoyed sitting out by the pool during the evening. Short walk to town but far enough away that you don't get the noise. Andy is fabulous host!

Pura Vida discovered!
Tello

If you aren't particular about the brand of chocolate, on your turned down pillow, and you want to know where to find the "real" Costa Rica, Casa Boaz is the place. We spent a week there, during rainy season, and discovered something new every day, thanks to the amazing host/owner, Andy. Although nestled in a quiet, off the main road location, Casa Boaz was easy to find. We discovered a beautiful, private, boutique hotel, immaculately maintained, and perfect for our small family, of three. Our seven year old daughter loved the pool! No cookie cutter hotel rooms here, each "casa" has its own distinct ambiance, and charms. We had more than enough room for the three of us, in our one-bedroom condo, and had our own fully equipped kitchen, AC, fans, hot water, and all the necessities. We liked the feeling of being "out of town", but just steps from the action, in Tamarindo. The hotel is a fantastic facility, and very comfortable, but only a small part of what makes Casa Boaz, the best place to stay in Tamarindo. The owner, Andy, was amazing, he was a big reason we were able to enjoy far more, than we would have, staying in a generic resort. Andy's bio says he spent a long time in Vail, CO, where he certainly learned what "World Class" service means. He's surfed every inch of every beach in the area, and guided us to places we would never have discovered without a "local's" knowledge. We were lucky that he had the time to really help us discover a lot of the country, outside of Tamarindo (we spend three weeks in CR, and followed his guidance to the letter, it was perfect). We hired him to teach our daughter to surf, and he had her riding waves in minutes. He was able to teach me, how to help her get going on the waves, and she can't wait to go again (but only after ski season is over in Bozeman)! The best part of Casa Boaz was the food! I grew up in Chicago, I am a deep dish guy to my soul, but Andy's New York style thin cheese pizza, rivals any thick crust sausage patty pizza, from Lou Malnotti's, I have ever had. Simply amazing, and worth the trip, if you are a true pizza aficionado! We also were privileged to get Andy to cook for us. We bought the ingredients, he knew where to get the best stuff, the beer, and wine; and were treated to a couple of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Staying at Casa Boaz was the best move we made, during our trip, and the vacation would not have been as incredible without a stop at Andy's place.

Felt at home!

We recently stayed here for eight nights with our seven-year-old little boy. Let me just tell you, we loved it! Andy was super to us! He even took us to a couple of beaches that we never would have known about! Our little boy probably bugged the stew out of him, but he was SO nice, always inviting him right in and even taught him a new way to dive AND gave him the best surf lesson EVER! We LOVED how it wasn't a resort feel, but an authentic, rustic place to stay, yet very clean and comfy! Andy was always there if we had any questions and helped us line up tours, too! One night he even cooked us a pizza (my whole family agreed it was the best pizza we'd eve had!) I loved everything about this place, but my favorite was the host-we met a friend when we meet Andy! My little boy is going to miss his friend so much! Thanks for everything, Andy!

Amazing stay with a baby!
kathryn l.

My husband, one year old, and I stayed at Casa Boaz for a week. We were situated in the Casa Vail unit, which was perfect for the three of us. It was equipped with everything we needed: a full kitchen, a stand alone bedroom, and first floor access to the beautiful pool. You couldn't ask for a better host than Andy. He went out of his way to drive us to Playa Langosta one afternoon so the baby could wade in the offset tidal pool near the mangroves. His food and activity suggestions were spot on. The pool and courtyard area are kept in great shape and Andy was always very accommodating with anything we needed. In order to access the "main drag" of Tamarindo, you have to walk about 10 minutes on a dirt/gravel road, with a few steep climbs going up to Casa Boaz. If traveling during the rainy season, I would definitely recommend bringing a good pair of hiking shoes, as the roads can become quite slippery after the daily rain showers. We brought all our hiking gear (including a baby backpack), so the wet roads didn't bother us. One of the main reasons we stayed at Casa Boaz was because we wanted a slower paced experience, away from the super touristy area. If you are looking for a quiet villa just a few minutes from town, then this is definitely a great place to stay.

Loved it!

We just returned from a 10 day stay at Casa Boaz. This property is a quiet, shady oasis just minutes from bustling Tamarindo. Dee and Andy were great hosts and were very helpful with recommendations and making reservations. Things we liked: visiting with other guests while cooling off in the pool, the quick walk to the beach, and lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance. Thanks Dee and Andy for helping to make our first trip to Costa Rica a memorable one.

Relaxing location, great hosts, and the BEST pizza
Jarred G.

My wife and I stayed in Casita Romatica at Casa Boaz for our honeymoon and we couldn't have found a better location in Tamarindo. The casa is just up the hill far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough to carry a longboard down to the beach. Upon our arrival we took a dip in the pool and lounged in the hammocks while Andy heated up the outdoor wood-fired pizza oven. He makes his pizza entirely from scratch including the dough & the sauce and uses only the freshest cheese, meats, and veggies (and pineapples too). The result was the best wood-fired pizza we've ever had and that's saying a lot seeing as how my wife is a bit of a pizza-snob being a native New Yorker and I'm a natural food critic drawing on my years of cooking in restaurants. The casita was perfect for the 2 of us with a big comfy bed, a couch, and a full kitchen so we could cook breakfast and lunch as we desired. There was even a TV in the casita although we had no need to even turn it on with so much to explore in Tamarindo. We took full advantage of the use of the bikes and surfboards during our stay. Andy and Dee were very accommodating hosts making spot-on recommendations on which restaurants to eat at (and which to avoid), booking an adventure tour for us, and helping us with transportation to/from the airport. I'd highly recommend staying at Casa Boaz and we'll definitely be back in the future. Pura Vida!
