Driving: It takes about 5 hours to drive from San Jose to Puerto Viejo. If you need help with transportation arrangements, including shuttles from the airport, let the owner know. The Options are: $ Shared Shuttle leaves the airport at 2:00 pm each day $$ Car Rental (you drive) $$$ Private Car (you have a driver) Driving Directions: Google maps/Waze to: Villa Aragon, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. This will take you straight to the house. We are right beside Casa Vikingo. Note: If you arrive at the airport after 3:00 pm, it is recommended that you book a hotel for the night. Driving to Puerto Viejo during night time can be tricky as the roads are not well lit. It is best to drive down very early in the morning or on Sat and Sun, as truck traffic tends to slow down.

Overview of local transport options There are a number of options for getting around in the Puerto Viejo area: ? The area between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo is quite compact and mostly flat so bicycle rental is an excellent option. ? Buses run frequently between Limon and Puerto Viejo and on to inland destinations such as Hone Creek, Bri Bri and Sixaola. Somewhat less frequently is the bus service between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo which is helpful for reaching Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva. ? Driving is easy enough and the road is now paved all the way between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo and Cahuita and Puerto Viejo but there's lots of pedestrian and bicycle traffic so take it slowly. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is not required. And if you want a car just for a day or two or to take onward from Puerto Viejo car rentals are now available in the Puerto Viejo area.

Here are some tips: ? Don't bring any valuables to the beach -- please, bring nothing, even if it's something you're prepared to lose, if thieves find a beach has "easy pickings" they'll be back. ? Don't walk alone at night on unlit roads or beaches, have a local business call you a taxi instead. ? Carry a photocopy of your passport with you at all times -- it is Costa Rican law that you have identification with you at all times but unless you are driving or crossing borders a copy is generally adequate.

Lim?n is the province with the highest percentage of Afro-descendants, with 15.75 percent according to the latest census. This strong Caribbean influence made Lim?n a world capital of Calypso and home to Calypso legends such as Walter Ferguson. Now, a new generation of musicians are bringing Calypso to a new generation with touches of reggae and rap. They want to define what modern black culture means in Costa Rica, a country that has long overlooked and shunned its Afro-descendent citizens. This culture also includes a unique Costa Rican cuisine. From rice-and-beans to patty to spiced jerk chicken, Costa Rican Caribbean cuisine is the richest and most flavorful in the country. Few places do that better than Lidia?s Place.

A very clean property
Jeremy D

A very clean property with privacy from other places around. We spent many nights in the pool winding down with a cocktail from a long day at the beach. Nothing here is stressful as you can tell. She provided fresh towels and checked in to make sure our stay was going well. She’s beyond kind and we cannot wait to come back.
