This incredible ocean-front home is built right on the beautiful beach just steps away from the sea in the small Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins and is within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, bars, shops and other popular establishments.
It is registered and licensed with The Belize Tourism Board, meeting all the quality standards.
Built in 2009 and updated in 2015, the house has rich mahogany cabinetry, cabbage-bark hardwood flooring throughout, stainless steel appliances in the gorgeous chef's kitchen and authentic hardwood furniture.
The house has a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, 2 bedrooms with king-size beds, living room, 1 1/2 bathrooms and a laundry room. The house can accommodate 2 to 4 guests.
Relax on the private front veranda looking out over the sea, or the rooftop to catch the full effect of the sea breeze and take advantage of the higher vantage point for views of the village and even the Cayes a few miles out on the reef. The property abounds with producing banana, mango, lime, yellow and green coconut trees.
Our local manager takes care of the property and landscaping and provides optional housekeeping, provisioning services - all for an additional fee. She can also arrange transportation, car rental, travel and wide verity of tours.
How to get here: Once you arrive in Belize city, you have two options:
- rent a car and drive to Hopkins (about 2 1/2 hour drive)
- take one of the regional carriers (Tropic Air or Maya Air) to the Dangriga Airport where we can arrange the transportation to the property.

After a trip through Belize, we were immediately taken by the unparalleled beauty of the country and the the honest friendliness of the Belizean people - especially the locals we met while traveling through the village of Hopkins. It truly was an awe-inspiring experience that convinced us that this country was a place we wanted to be a part of. Yekateryna (Katya) Hackl purchased this House in 2015
We spent two weeks in this delightful village. The fact that we stayed in a wonderful house added to our enjoyment of the area. Drinking our morning coffee while sitting on the veranda watching the ocean waves hit the beach was a great way to start the day. While we didn't do any cooking to speak of, the kitchen is very well stocked. The house is very comfortable and conveniently located in the middle of the main street. Several eateries as well as a fruit stand and market are just steps away. Cheryl, the property manager, is very friendly and accommodating. She answers a call immediately and finds solutions to any problems one may encounter. I can sum up our entire experience by saying that we have already booked this house for a month in 2019!
We had such a wonderful time last year when we stayed here for a week, we decided come back for 2 weeks this year. That's probably one of the best testimonials. We appreciate all the amenities that it has, it's great master bed, it's location in the village and proximity to the veggie stand, grocery store, and village restaurants. A new addition to the place that isn't in the photos is a nice wooden fence that helps delineate the public part of the beach and the house property. It's just the right height, about 3 feet high on the beach front side. They also have added two bikes to use, which is great. We didn't use them this year as much as we would have last year. This year we rented a car from Hopkins Auto Rental, so we were able to easily mix up our relaxing days on the beach with day trips, tours, hikes, etc. Katya, thanks for sharing your home with us, again!
Maya Heaven is lovely home in Hopkins. Having the produce stand and store at the end of the lane was so convenient. We prefer to cook our own meals, the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and condiments, if the lady comes by with tamales get them they were some of the best I've eaten. My husband and I stayed in Hopkins for a week and half, ending our trip with a few days at AMayanHeaven with two friends. Not to say our other accommodations were not wonderful, but this really felt like our own little palace! The house is clean and beautifully appointed just as in the photos. The shower was wonderful and the beds were SO COMFORTABLE that we hope to invest in the same mattress at home. We didn't get a chance to meet Cheryl as she was out of town, but even from afar she was helpful with any of our questions/snags (which were few). If you want to use the grill, make sure to grab some gas when the truck rolls through. Proximity to veg stand, grocery and Hopkins proper is more than ideal. If you're looking for a little bit of luxury while still taking in the village and culture of Hopkins, this house is highly recommended!
We absolutely loved our Belize dream home away from home. We had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and charming village of Hopkins. The home is beautiful and the beds were the most comfortable we had ever slept on! Cheryl was always available to answer all of our questions and was very helpful in every way! We will definitely be back soon!
