Directly on the ocean, there's always a breeze and some of the best surf in Costa Rica at our newly renovated beach house in Playa Esterillos Centro. Walk the deserted beach, surf or watch birds, fish, bike ride, rent a 4-wheeler, horseback ride, or just do nothing while you snooze in a hammock. Enjoy dinners on our large covered patio, marvel at the breathtaking sunsets and sleep soundly in our air conditioned bedrooms. Tastefully decorated, with 2 bedrooms, modern gourmet kitchen, large bathroom with shower and hot water, 15 ft. covered furnished stone patio, outside shower, charcoal grill and internet, our house is one of only 5 on our dead-end dirt road. Get away from it all while still only 20 mins. from Jaco and 40 mins from Quepos. Cleaning services provided.
 
Esterillos Centro on Costa Rica's desirable Central Pacific coast is a quiet little beach town minutes from Esterillos Oeste home of several discos, quaint restaurants and a small but fully stocked supermarket and 20 minutes from the bustling tourist town of Jaco famous for its surfing, hotels and restaurants. About 40 minutes to the south are Quepos and Manual Antonio National Park where great restaurants, casinos and one of Costa Rica's most beautiful national parks offer a change of pace from the lazy days at our cottage on the beach. Find everything you need in Paritta 10 to 15 mins. from our house or wait for the local fish and fruit vendors who often show up at our door.

About the Owner

I chose to live in Costa Rica because my work made me travel between Mexico and South America, so I said “Why not live there all year?” Costa Rica is a democratic country where medical care is very good, we have public and private hospitals, primary schools, colleges and universities internationally recognised. The Central Pacific has beautiful long beaches with panoramic views and an ambient temperature between 26° and 34° (79° to 93° Fahrenheit) throughout the year. Personally, I hate the cold, so I said goodbye to our winters in Quebec and I went with my son, who was 13 at the time, to this hot country. I’d be lying if I said it was always easy, but today, after more than 22 years, I can assist you with this new experience.

Right on the beach! Quiet town, Esterillos Centro.

“This is a small, simple beach house that is right on the beach in a pretty quiet area. You have a small dirt road to cross and you are right on the sand. The price is excellent for basically having the beach to yourself. The neighbor and the neighborhood have quite a few free roaming dogs so if you are not an animal lover, you may want to look elsewhere (then again nearby towns also have free roaming dogs!) =D. We went during August so the ocean was quite mixed up. However, right in front of the hotel nearby is considered a good surf spot. The spot right in front of the house is pretty good for swimming but I recommend bringing boogie fins because of the strong currents. There were boogie boards available when we stayed, which was quite nice. We rented longboards from Brett in Esterillos Oeste (also a good surf spot), nice guy. The hotel/restaurant within walking distance has a pool table and great food. First time trying snook/robalo! House is not too far of a drive from Jacó or Manuel Antonio. Some advice: I highly recommend bringing good mosquito repellant. Also, you are very close to an estuary which is nice to walk through. Pamela and Claudette are very pleasant to talk to. Pros: We just got back from spending a month in what turned out to be a little paradise. if you want peace and quiet in a small fisherman’s village, look no further. The house is about 50 feet from the beach, you can see the ocean while preparing your sunset rhum punch. If you’re into eating fresh fish, the local fisherman is about 300 feet from the house and can supply you every day with freshly caught red snapper. We have been all over Costa Rica and have rented beach houses on a lot of different beaches and all I can tell you is that this house is different. The quietness of the surroundings makes it very special for us. The place is managed by a French Canadian woman who really takes to heart the well-being of her customers. At one point, I called her complaining about a water faucet that was not working properly, within 5 minutes, her handyman was at the house evaluating the problem and within the hour he was back with a replacement faucet, we were really impressed. She is an extremely helpful woman and will answer any request you might have in a very quick manner. Just before leaving, we made a reservation for another month next year. Cons: If you are looking for action and want to go out and party every night, this place is not for you.”

JUST PERFECT!!

We would love to stay at this house again! Perfect location, helpful and very nice neighbors, the cleaning lady even did our laundry for us!!! The fisherman close by brings his “catch of the day” daily, there’s nothing like fresh fish in the bbq!! We could either go out real close by and have a great breakfast for around $4 or just buy bacon and eggs at Esterillos Oeste and cook our own…Our only suggestion is, if you like to watch tv bring your own movies, there are only a couple of Spanish channels but even those had very poor reception. We already miss the sound of the waves just right accross the way…
