Vis is an island in the middle of the Adriatic sea. It can only be reached by boat - ferry or private yacht.
Ferries sail from Split on the Croatian mainland or from the Italian coast. You can fly to Split airport from many European cities. You can also reach Split by train, bus or boat. From Split there is at least one car-ferry daily throughout the year and several a day in the summer which takes about two hours. There is also a daily catamaran (passengers only) throughout the year which takes one and a half hours. From Italy during the summer time there are several ferries and catamarans from Ancona.
