And less than 10 miles from the New River with opportunities to canoe, tube lazily downstream or fish for muskie and small-mouth bass. The Blue Ridge Parkway forms the southeastern border of the county. This section of the Parkway includes Doughton Park, the scenic drive's premier developed area that includes numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, historic sites, a restaurant and other ammenities.
