  • The unspoilt resort of Haraki Bay, and the golden sands of Agathi beach are just 5 minutes away by car. Leave the car in Haraki square, wander down past the church, and one of the most beautiful horseshoe bays in Greece will open out before you. Take a walk along the pedestrian only promenade with its single row of laid-back tavernas and friendly family run restaurants. The bay is overlooked by the ruins of Pheraklos Castle, which provide an especially dramatic backdrop when lit up at night. During the day, some tavernas will offer you free use of their sunbeds and parasols if you make good use of their bar facilities! The soft golden sands of Agathi Beach are backed by nothing but mountains and sand dunes. The sea is warm, shallow and clear, providing safe swimming for all, and great snorkelling. Sunbeds and parasols are available to rent, and not overcrowded, and there is a choice of 3 licensed marquee style-tavernas serving everything from cold drinks to a 3 course meal at very reasonable prices. Perfect beach resort!

Location Information

Answer

Malona is only 10 minutes drive from historic Lindos, the island\'s ancient capital, and home of the Knights Templar. Malona itself is internationally famous for the quality of its citrus fruits, and the village is surrounded by picturesque groves of oranges and mandarins.

Answer

Five minutes drive from the peaceful resort of Haraki Bay, and the golden sands of Agathi Beach, 10 minutes from Lindos, and under an hour to virtually anywhere else on the island. A five minute walk from the Old Olive Press will find you strolling up a quiet mountain road scrumping oranges.

Answer

Malona boasts 3 bar/internet cafes, 2 minimarts, 2 grillhouses, Jimmys (real) Greek Taverna (highly recommended), 2 grill houses, an excellent bakery, a postoffice/sticky cakeshop, and an English speaking pharmacist.

Answer

Get away from it all, romantic break, family holiday, explore historical sites, hiking, cycling, spectacular mountain scenery, beautiful sandy bays, so why not ?!?!

Answer

May, June, late Sept, October are most like a western european summer. Peak season can get HOT.

Answer

From the airport, turn left onto the main road, then take a right onto the dual carriageway (Lindos/Faliraki). At the end of this road (10km) turn right. After 25km turn right when you see the sign to Malona, and the road will take you into the village, where I will meet you and take you to the Old Olive Press.

Answer

The airport road and the Rhodes-Lindos road are dual carriageway, the rest are mainly quiet single carriageway asphalt roads. Road markings and lighting have improved vastly in recent years. Regular airconditioned buses run through Malona village, and will take you North as far as Rhodes Town, and South to Lindos and as far as Gennadi for just a few euros a head. Taxis are strictly regulated and a mere phone call away, but not cheap and the drivers are insane to a man !

Answer

Beware of drunks as you drive through the cultural centre of Faliraki. Also beware of goats south of Faliraki. The goats may also be drunk if there are windfall oranges on the ground.

Answer

Most Greeks in the resorts speak good English and at least some German. Even in the villages, most of the bar/shop managers speak good English, and a lot of the locals speak enough to help out if you get stuck.
