Description

Our property is a small holiday home facility with only 5 units. The place is situated in Playas Del Coco, a beach village at the northwest coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste. It is located a bit off the center of the village, in a local neighborhood, which means one has to walk about 20 minutes to the very center and the beach. Yet, very well sorted supermarkets and a lot of other stores are within 10 minutes of walking distance. Also, staying a little retired from the center spares you its bustle and buzzing, which in peak season might not be every one's taste. There is a nice and always clean swimming pool for common use, as well as a gazebo with a barbecue. All is displayed within a beautiful tropical garden. A carport within the complex provides one parking place for every unit.

Coco is an original fishing village which over time has developed quite a touristy infrastructure. It lies at the northwest coast of Costa Rica, 35 km away from Libiria, the capital of the province of Guanacaste. Halfway between the two there is the international airport of Liberia. Coco has a volcano - sand beach and offers sport fishing, diving and snorkeling schools, as well as some tour operators, which offer tours to the nearby national parks and beaches. There are well sorted supermarkets, electrical appliance stores, boutiques, several banks, pharmacies, medical offices and - of course - all kind of restaurants and bars. This makes Coco an ideal base, not only for beach vacationers but also for nature lovers and hikers.

Answer

Playas de Coco is a fishing village of about 6000 inhabitants, a number, which in peak season is filled up with tourists to about 10000. It is probably the only naturally grown village at this part of the Costa Rican coast. It has a volcano - sand beach of about 2 km length and is bordered by hills towards the inland. Its inhabitants live mainly by fishing and tourism. There is a little public hospital for emergencies, several doctors' offices, dental surgeries, various banks, a bus terminal for connections to Liberia and San Jos, an elementary school and a high school and of course - all kinds of bars and restaurants, tour operators, boutiques, grocery stores, farmacies

Answer

Many beautiful beaches like: Playa Hermosa, Playa Panam, Playa Conchal and more. National Parks are: Rincn De La Vieja, Santa Rosa, Rio Tenorio, Barra Honda and more.

Answer

Apart from beach - holidaying Coco offers all kind of activities, as: scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, boat excursions, biking, hiking, and excursions to the nearby national parks.

Answer

Peak season is from Dec. 1st to Easter week. Most pleasant climate is from Dec. 1st to end of Feb. with no more than 28 C, dry air and mostly with a refreshing breeze. Green Season is from mid May to end of August with occasional rain showers, mainly in the afternoon. Upside: everything is green, lovely nature, fewer tourists and lower accommodation rates. Temperatures between 30 and 32 C.

Answer

Next airport: Liberia Airport, Daniel Oduber at 20 km distance. Country's main airport is San Jos Airport, Juan Santa Mara at 250 km distance. There are direct buses 3 times a day from San Jos to Playa del Coco

Answer

There are several public bus connections, such as to Libera (almost hourly), to San Jos (2 times a day), and to other nearby villages. Taxis are available until late into the night.

Answer

If you should want to stay longer than 3 months, you will have to leave the country for 72 hours. At arrival don't tell the migration officer that you want to stay longer than 3 months. Just say you are traveling on to Nicaragua or Panam.

Answer

The Costa Ricans (they call themselves "Ticos") are easy to go with, pretty casual and always in for a party. Time over here still isn't a big issue. Pace of live still is very relaxed and take - it - easy way. Lovers of culture holidays may be warned - not much of it is to be found here; what one comes here for is nature and having a relaxed holiday.

Answer

The language spoken is Spanish. In touristy areas you can get along with English, not so off the beaten tracks.

Answer

Eating out is slightly cheaper than in the US or Canada and about the same or slightly more expensive than in southern Europe. Grocery is slightly cheaper than in the US or Canada and about the same or slightly more expensive than in southern Europe - especially if you are buying imported food! Accommodation is slightly cheaper or the same as in the US or Canada and about the same or slightly more expensive than in southern Europe (depending on the country). Buying clothes is slightly cheaper than in the US or Canada and the same or slightly more expensive than in southern Europe. Public transport is cheaper than in the US, Canada and southern Europe, so are taxis. Medical treatment is cheaper than in the US or Canada and more expensive than in most European countries (apart from dental care, which is probably cheaper than in any of the other mentioned countries).

Casa Lora is a lovely, well-maintained property set in the Tico neighborhoods of Coco. We researched in advance and knew that Coco was a walkable town and that Casa Lora was off the main strip, approximately 15-20 mins walk to the beach/downtown. We enjoyed the walk a couple times a day although the roads were quite dusty as January is the dry season. We did need a rental car or taxi to explore nearby beach towns because of the hilly nature of the area. My husband and I stayed in one of the two studio apartments. It was compact and as other reviewers said, the kitchen was very well equipped with utensils and pots and gadgets for cooking in. There were two dressers which allowed us to unpack. The shower had good water pressure with hot water and the room has the option of either screened windows, fans or AC. A washing machine is also available. Wifi is included, although like everywhere we stayed in Costa Rica, it was slow and spotty. The room/kitchen/bath/linens were very clean when we arrived but this was admittedly hard for us to maintain with the open windows! The pool area also had a grill but bring your bug repellent because Coco definitely has mosquitoes even in the dry season. There aren\'t that many other units at Casa Lora so there really wasn\'t alot of noise from other guests. As I mentioned though, the property is situated in a residential area so expect to hear neighbors, their pets and Costa Rica wildlife! Sabine and Peter are the German owners and kind hosts who live onsite and lovingly and inconspicuously maintain the gardens and the pool.

Casalora is a comfortable privat, quite casa in Playa El Coco,Costa Rica. My husband and I spent 2 month at Casalora. It is very clean, well maintained and beautifully landscaped, and the fully tiled pool was a godsend. The Beach was only a 15 min.walk from Casalora and so are the Grocery stores. Casalora offers 3 separate houses and 2 Appartments which are nicely furnished and all have Aircondition and Ceiling fans and screened Windows . My husband and I rented one of the separate houses! We enjoyed the quite evenings at our privat balcony or at the nice clean pool ! We loved staying in Casalora so much, that we booked our vacation with the Owners of Casalora for 2017. After all it was Paradise in Paradise...... Heinz and Rosie

Sabrina and Peter were perfect hosts. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us off which was fantastic. The pool is the best pool ever. It is so hot in Costa Rica and this pool is really pretty - surrounded by lush garden and an absolute necessity. The price is excellent - we stayed for a month and it was probably the cheapest place in Playas Del Coco. We got the studio which was plenty big enough - has a kitchenette and we cooked all our meals. It\'s walking distance to the supermarket and main street so a perfect location. Sabrina and Peter are really lovely people and put in a lot of effort at their property. They are constantly gardening and maintaining - this wouldn\'t happen anywhere else in Costa Rica, I\'m quite sure of it! We would definitely stay again and highly recommend Casa Lora. 10/10. Thanks so much for having us!! Stayed April 2016, travelled as a couple

After a disappointment with an AirBNB, this lodging gave us everything for just a few dollars more. The second floor balcony overlooking the lush gardens surrounding the beautiful pool gave us a very peaceful feeling and we spent a lot of time up there reading. Security was exceptional. The AC was efficient and quiet but noisy enough to drown out the barking dogs and roosters in the neighborhood. Supermarkets were nearby and the kitchen facilities helped us save money that may have been spent on restaurants. The owners, Peter and Sabina, were very gracious.
