Description

Chmieloon  is a cozy Ccottage nestled under sixty-foot pine trees and on peaceful Spider Lake in Mercer, Wisconsin. Our northwood's setting is associated with quiet, natural, pristine, crystal-clear water, not overrun with jet ski's and powerboats. This makes it perfect for swimming, fishing and relaxing.

There are many area attractions as well. Take an ATV ride on Iron County's 500 miles of Trails and see Wisconsin's last wilderness. Sit outside by the fire at night and watch the hot embers as you feel your stress fade away. The surroundings are so quiet that you can hear people across the lake playing cards at their kitchen table and telling stories about the big fish that got away. The area's abundant wildlife provides many opportunities to see bald eagles, hummingbirds, and lots of duck families, including loons.

Chmieloon  provides many conveniences (see below), but there are a few items that guests should bring with them when staying at the Cottage.

  • Sheets for beds (1 pillow-top queen, 1 double, 1 double hide-bed, 1 twin).
  • Pillows.
  • Towels.
  • Life vests for small children.
  • Swimsuits, rafts and toys.
  • Bikes.
  • Fishing gear.
  • Food.
  • Bait.

Optional equipment that may be rented in advance only include:

  • 14'  Phanthom sailboat $75/week.
  • 2 person Kayak $50/week.
  • 17' Oldtown fiberglass canoe with paddles $75/week,
  • Special:  $150/week for all three boats.
  • 9.9 Yamaha engine (like new) $100/week not including gas/oil.

Chmieloon is pleased to offer the following conveniences.

  • Rowboat, oars and anchor.
  • Orthopedic Englander Queen pillow-top mattress.
  • Life vests (3 orange adult, 2 cushion adult).
  • Pet kennel available on porch (see special rules).
  • New vacuum and cleaning supplies (no maid service).
  • Tefal pots and pans.
  • All utensils, plates and glasses.
  • Electric range and refrigerator.
  • Cutting board and knives.
  • Coffee maker.
  • Microwave (large turkey size).
  • Full bath with shower (40 gallon water heater).
  • New full-size hide-a-bed couch.
  • Color television with VCR.
  • Several games.
  • Regular swing.
  • 66' lighted pier with bench on end.
  • Picnic table.
  • 2 hammocks.
  • Charcoal grill.

Pets considered pending approval and surcharge/deposit.

Policy

OCCUPANT LIMITS - The maximum number of persons allowed is six (6). No exceptions -- extra persons include babies and children.

SEPTIC SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS: Our cottage is at lake level and would require an expensive mound system if replaced. Please observe the rule: "If it's Yellow, let it Mellow.  If it's Brown, flush it Down."

VISITORS - NO overnight guests will be allowed.

PAYMENT - Payment of nonrefundable deposit will hold a week.  Balance including optional rentals due 2 months prior to arrival.

CHECK-IN TIME - At 12 pm on Saturdays for regular weekly rentals.

CHECK-OUT TIME - For regular weekly rental is 10am sharp on Saturday.

MARINE POLICY - All regular weekly Boat & Motor rentals terminate on Friday night at 8pm.  Our Boat and Motors are rented for fishing and boating only and not for water tubing/skiing.  Minimum age for the operation of our Boat & Motors is 16 years old.  You are responsible for ANY damage to the Boat & Motor outside normal wear.

PETS - Pets will be allowed under the following conditions:

1. Pets will be put in the Kennel on the back porch when unattended. Reason: Pets can behave strangely when they feel abandoned and may cause damage . Also be aware that pets are territorial and may mark their area. Please don't allow them to mark in the cottage.

2. Clean up all droppings on grounds.

3. Pets must be kept off furniture including beds.

4. Pets should be kept under leash when outdoors as to not disturb neighbors. Also pets should be kept quiet. The bathtub cannot be used for cleaning pets.

5. If you agree to the above terms and you pay $50/week for each pet as well as a $100/security deposit your pet will be allowed. Note: The neighbor to the North will be made aware of any allowed pets and has been instructed to call us if there are any problems or if you haven't paid for pets.

JET SKIS: Lake rules allow from 1-4pm, however, they are strongly discouraged by most owners.

Patrons are responsible for the actions and the safety of their children and guests.
