AvailableLa Pomme d\'Or is a b&b/holiday home in the beautiful region of Poitou-Charentes in western France. Our vision is that when you come and stay with us, you leave everyday life and all the problems outside the gates. You can sit in a deck chair and relax, read a good book, take a dip in the pool, drink a good wine with a good piece of cheese. We are here to help you get a wonderful holiday, find the gems in the area for you to visit and are happy to book visits at wineries, golf courses etc.
Our family stayed a week in June in the Guesthouse. The house has 3 nice bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 2 new very nice showers. The kitchen is very well equipped, it was just like home. In the garden there are several terraces and we specially liked the pool terrace with a nice view over the swimming pool. Our children loved the pool area. La Pomme d'Or is very quite and it's perfect for the children. The area Poitou Charentes has a lot to offer to it's visitors. We visited The Futuroscope, The Monkey Valley, some castles and one adventure park. The host couple is very nice and friendly and they gave us a lot of good advises. We can really recommend La Pomme d'Or.
As a couple, we spent our one week holiday in the end of July at La Pomme d'Or. The place offers a genuine feeling of rural France, with a beautiful garden and lovely houses. This is surely the place to be if you need to unwind and relax. The village has a favorable location, which made it easy for us to take daytrips to wine yards, the beach at the coast, go climbing at an Adventure Park and visit famous places like cognac. The hosts Eva-Lotta and Peter have great interest and knowledge in the area and you can easily consult them for recommendations in activities and places to visit. This warm and welcoming hospitality showed when we got to borrow bicycles, so we could go on a romantic bike ride to the country side to visit adjacent villages. The beauty of France is that there is always something to experience and the food is fantastic. As a social couple, we got to opportunity to meet the other guests at La Pomme d'Or on the weekly BBQ, hosted by Eva-Lotta and Peter. We shared a lovely meal and got to listen to stories and talk to people from different parts of the world. We have great memories of this summer and will surely be back again. We give a warm recommendation to stay at La Pomme d'Or, Chapelle Moliere.
We stayed in the Guesthouse as a family of five. My husband and I, our two children (3 and 5 years) and my father. La Pomme is an oasis of peace and tranquility. Eva-Lotta and Peter provided a warm welcome. We were left to get on with it, which we liked, however should you need anything or require any help, advice or information, Eva-lotta and Peter are very approachable. The property was clean, the living space is large, kitchen well equipped, beds comfortable, great shower rooms. Gardens and pool lovely. Our children (aged 3 and 5) enjoyed the pool, gardens and the swings. Even though the gardens and outside space is shared, you always seem to have privacy. Fantastic BBQ areas. Every Thursday Eva-Lotta & Peter host a BBQ for all the guests should they wish to join. We had a wonderful meal and a lovely time chatting to the other guests, swapping stories, laughing and sharing jokes. At La Pomme there are very nice discreet "touches" such as the bar by the pool, a freezer full of ice-creams (with an honesty box policy). Also blankets on the back of chairs outside should you be a little chilly if you find yourself talking late into the evening after too much food and wine! Although the Guesthouse is self-catering Eva-Lotta and Peter can provide you an evening dinner should you want it. There was a useful information pack at the Guesthouse. La Chapelle Mouliere is a very friendly village, as were all the surrounding local villages. La Chapelle Mouliere has a tiny shop that sells basic essentials and bread (although it is not a Boulangerie - the village does not have one). There is also a Tabac if you fancy a coffee or something stronger. Plenty to do if you enjoy the countryside and being outside, and for those that need a little more excitement Poitiers is only 30 minutes away. The next village (Bonneuil-Matours) there is plenty to do by the river (which has a sandy shore) including swimming, kayaking, table tennis, children's playground and a cafe serving food and drink. The medieval town of Chauviny is also nearby. It has a night market on Wednesday's and is worth a visit (very romantic!). We were also told by many people, visitors and locals alike, that the market on Saturdays is an abolute must - we were attending a wedding so did not go to the market ourselves. We can thoroughly recommend staying at La Pomme. A stay at La Pomme is a taste of rural France. You will relax and unwind. We hope to return one day.
