Ibiza is located in the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Cabrera, Ibiza and Formentera). It is 50 miles southwest of Majorca and has an area of 221 square miles. Ibiza is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, in the Western Mediterranean. The town of Ibiza is the capital. There are fisheries and salt works on the island. Subsistence farming, aided by irrigation, is mostly terraced. A picturesque island with Roman, Phoenician, and Carthaginian remains, Ibiza attracts tourists and artists and has an excellent climate with some 300 days of sun per year, wonderful beaches, and cultural offerings.
