Charles and Antonia Fryer bought a disused farmhouse in Tuscany in the 1980s and rebuilt it, turning it into an elegant villa. The walls were built of stone, as is traditional, so for the extensions to the outside walls the same stone as the original was obtained from a local quarry. The interior of the house was gutted and completely rebuilt in the Tuscan style, with marble floors, a marble staircase to the first floor and all modern facilities. On the first floor two double bedrooms were installed, with en suite bathrooms with showers, and their own balconies. Two additional bedrooms were added, sharing a bathroom and a small kitchen. Throughout antique or traditional furniture has been installed. What had been farmland was grassed over, with all olive trees retained and new ones planted, and many other ornate trees and bushes added. Finally a large swimming pool was built, with trees for shade on two sides and open areas for sunbathing on the other sides. A comfortable and luxurious family home is the result, which is ideal for holidays by one large family, or two smaller families.
