Description

Desert Rose is the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. Inside is large and open with cathedral ceilings in the living area, leading into the long breakfast bar, kitchen, dining and cocktail areas with double French doors opening onto a large screened deck. The laundry/utility room is right off the kitchen and has a large laundry sink (ideal for washing small very sandy dogs).

Throughout the house, french doors open onto the deck/balcony from each bedroom including the third story master bedroom with a sunset view over the gulf of Mexico. Large cool Mexican tiles soothe your feet as your mind unwinds in a southwestern motif with a Key West soul.

Outside, large screened decks provide privacy and natural ventilation in the front and rear of the main floor. Relax in the late afternoon sun in the hammock on the front deck then prepare a meal on the Webber gas grill and dine on the back deck overlooking the heated turquoise swimming pool under the canopy of the pool cage. Massage those tired muscles with the Jacuzzi jets blazing from the built-in pool bench. Keep up with your favorite shows on the flat panel High Def. TV in the living room or any of the other TVs in the bedrooms, kitchen or poolside. Wi-Fi is available throughout. Beach chairs and bicycles are at your disposal. Both the back bay and your private beach access are but a block and 1/2 away. So too is 'Publix' our island's main grocery. Beside it, Snookbright , a full service marina, offers a variety of watercraft for rent,

fishing charters and a fine dining restaurant overlooking Estero Bay.

Keywords: Paradise at the beautiful white sandy beach, warm pool in the privacy of the back yard

Best POOL home w/BEACH proximity
Mike & Cathy S

Cathy & I enjoyed our stay at Desert Rose. The home is amazing, well maintained & beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable and the space is huge. The outside area is a great place to relax and enjoy time, any time of the day or night. The screened in lanai keeps out the critters and the bugs at bay. The BEACH!!! The BEST PART for our experience was the provided BEACH CART which allowed us to haul all our gear with little effort to the beach. The beach itself is an excellent area which is only 2 blocks away, or actually 7 houses from the driveway!!! ? The beach has direct access at the end of the street. No need to go ‘down the way’ to get to the beach. Just walked out – onto the sand *with a foot wash right there* and enjoy the water immediately. Our 9# MinPin, Leo, enjoyed the stay. The walks along the neighborhood and up and down the beach in search of Gulf/Ocean treasures left by the gentle waves is something he misses dearly (as do we). Being that we live on the East Coast near the ocean, we don’t have a local area where dogs are permitted to be on the beach. KEEP IN MIND, Dogs ARE allowed on LEE County beaches, as long as they are on a leash (and bring a bag in case (s)he does their business). With Publix close by, it was GREAT to get to Desert Rose without a lot of food baggage to haul. We went next door and stocked up our NEST with supplies and stock. There is a GREAT kitchen with about EVERYTHING you’d need there for your use. The LEMON/CITRUS press there was magnificent, once I googled how to use it. ? The POOL is EXCELLENT in being so clean and refreshing (AND HEATED TOO!!!). The deck area around the pool is greatly decorated and relaxing to enjoy. We were surprised to learned that the owner lives on-site (as the live-in Super, as he said it) in a ground floor addition, but once we realized we had privacy and seclusion at the home, it was relaxing and enjoyable. We DID miss the performance Skip does at a local establishment Sunday morning, but look forward to watching him play his music on our next visit. **Oh, did I tell you? We BOOKED our NEXT vacation in November, before we left for home to the East Coast. Thank You Skip, for sharing your home with us on our bi-annual vacations in 2016.

Perfect family vacation home!
Julie C.

The best Spring Break ever thanks in part to our wonderful accommodations at the Desert Rose! Three generations from California, Texas, Indiana and Florida enjoyed this wonderful Key West inspired house! You will feel at home here. The master bedroom is on the third floor with its own bath and walk out patio. There are two bedrooms downstairs which share a bathroom. There are plenty of linens to meet your needs for the week. I think each room had a TV but I do not believe any of us turned them on! That is a real vacation!!! Skip, the owner, has many books and movies for you to enjoy if you choose. Outside the main floor is a beautiful deck with a hammock which several of us took naps on! So peaceful and calming. The French doors open into a huge family room/kitchen area. The NCAA tournament was watched a few times on a nice flat screen TV! There is a futon and two couches which were great for the kids to sleep on. Seriously, plenty of room in this place! The kitchen had just about everything you need to cook fabulous meals! There is a Weber grill on the porch. Off the kitchen is a laundry room with brand new, large capacity washer and dryer. Out from the kitchen was the porch where we spent a great deal of time. It was kind of a rustic, western theme. At the round table we played cards everyday and build memories with the little kids! Downstairs you will find a pub style, poolside patio. There is a dart board where we had a couple dart competitions! The pool.....wonderful!!!! It was perfect!!! The beach was a short walk away and we went everyday for walks and even flew kites! Skip has a lot of beach toys, beach chairs and a wagon to cart everything. We watched several sunsets and loved the location! The trolley pick up is right down the road and very convenient. One thing I was hesitant about when we booked was the fact that the owner lived on the first level. No problem! In fact, it was nice to have him around. If we needed anything, he was extremely helpful. We look forward to seeing him again when we book this house in the future!!!! Thank you Skip!

A Tropical Oasis
Anne C.

We recently (March 2014) spent a wonderful week at the Desert Rose. What a jewel! The layout of the house is fantastic, especially if you plan on visitors! Our college-age boys were both on Spring Break, and it was the ideal location and landing spot for them and their friends. My husband and I had lots of privacy in the Master on the 3rd floor, and were never bothered by noise and activity in the rest of the home. The pool was wonderful, I floated around in it like a manatee for hours! The artwork is great, and the entire vibe of the home was very cool and very Key West. Truly an oasis and fabulous retreat. Thanks, Skip! We'll be back! (P.S. Our dog, Buddy, was welcome and loved it too.)

Desert Rose was wonderful!
BrendaJ

We loved our stay! My friend and I brought 3 teenage girls, we could hide away in our own little upstairs room with lanai and bathroom to ourselves while the girls acted silly downstairs. The pool area was very nice, even had a dart board down there. Loved the big back porch area with a big grill. All porches and pool area are screened, so no worry of bugs. The beach is a short 2 block walk and the grocery is very close, just have to get around the fence. We love to visit The Book Nook down island a few miles, they sell used books and new ones, everyone needs a good book for the beach! The owners are very helpful and live just downstairs so are easy to reach. The only drawbacks were you cannot hear the waves as you are not on the beach but we much enjoyed the added space of a home as opposed to a condo, and the constant honking of cars being locked at the Publix (we discovered that is noise pollution and now are concious to lock the car from the inside). Overall the place is GREAT!!
