Bush Cottage is located in the charming peaceful village of Tallentire, on the North Western edge of the Lake District National Park, and just 3 miles from the bustling market town of Cockermouth.
It is conveniently placed to offer an ideal base for those wishing to explore the beautiful, spectacular lakes and mountains of the Western Lake District, and especially the breathtaking, dramatic scenery of Wastwater, recently voted "Britain's Favourite View". Within a fifteen minute drive you could be amongst the fells, enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Lorton Valley, which leads down to Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere.
This area has the added advantage of being one of the quieter areas of The Lake District, so it is easy to escape the crowds. The pace of life in this corner of Cumbria is unchanged by the stresses of modern living- here you will find time to unwind and enjoy all it has to offer. There are many walks to enjoy in this area, both up high and on low level, but sometimes there is nothing nicer than a leisurely picnic by a peaceful lake shore.
A ten minute drive to the west will take you to the Solway Coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its unspoilt Blue flag beaches, then on to the Roman Town of Maryport with fort, aquarium, and "The Wave" visitor attraction, and numerous shops and restaurants. Heading south takes you along the Solway Coast towards the historic quayside at Whitehaven.
