The Hideaway Plumbago Villa is situated in five private acres with live in on site Management and is fenced for security. We overlook the ocean and a few hundred feet from the beach with safe swimming and snorkeling. There are three blue holes (underwater caves) and two reefs. Walk the beach in either direction for miles, you may see no-one for days, just the ripple of the water, birds and sounds of the fish jumping in the water. Take your line and fish right from the beach, then barbecue your catch and enjoy your meal and watch the incredible sunsets. We are also located in a bonefish area. Internet is in the Villa. We have a small fishing boat with Captain that can be rented for fishing, snorkeling and sightseeing trips by the half or full day. |

Bassett Cove at Bevans Town in East Grand Bahama. The famous Gold Rock Beach and the Lucayan Caves are just a short three mile drive.

We arrived in late May 2017 for the week and found pretty much what we were hoping for. It was our first trip to Grand Bahama so we were unfamiliar with the island but Liz and her team really made our getaway just perfect. James and Ezra live on site with their very friendly black lab Oscar (what a great dog!). They got us settled in and checked back a few times to make sure everything was to our liking. The Hideaway is 30 miles from the rest of the tourist area in Port Lucaya and Freeport so a car is a must if you intend to get around. We really loved the fact that we could drive around to see local sights and restaurants while coming back to the private seclusion of our villa on the sea. The villa has plenty of screened windows and doors so that on many nights, you fall asleep to the sound of the surf. We did get a bit warm and had some rain late in the week but the AC was perfect. Also, their selection of books and DVD's came in very handy. The beach stretches for a few miles to the west of the property and we didn't see a soul while on the beach or kayaking along the shoreline. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you could need to stay in and prepare meals including a gas grill for outdoor cooking. We spent our mornings in the screened porch with coffee and breakfast looking and listening to the surf. In the evenings we did go restaurant hopping since this was vacation. Now that we know our way around, we can't wait to come back. this was the Perfect Private Getaway and just what we were looking for. Thank you Liz, James and Ezra
The 5 of us finally arrived after not having google maps available to us. We relied on the kindness of the Bahamian people to find the place. Once we arrived, we were thrilled at the space we all had and the layout of the villa. James and Oscar the dog appear once in a while, but other than that, we had the whole grounds to ourselves. Great beach a short walk away. Would recommend to any family who wants a place 1/2 hour from the action.. We enjoyed it.
I hate to write a review because I don't want it to be taken next time...upon rolling in we were a little worried because it is pretty isolated, but after we settled in it was paradise. The water is beautiful, the beaches pristine. The house immaculate. The owners were very helpful along with the staff that resides there. If you seek solitude, and only waves crashing to the shore it is the place to be. I can't wait to go back. If you have teenagers looking for a little more excitement it may not be the place, but for everyone else, here it is.
We came over to celebrate my daughter's graduation and for much needed R&R. We were greeted by Liz ,John and Sharley the dog, made us feel instantly right at home. The Villa is lovely! We did rent a car and we needed it to go back and forth from town. We swam in the beautiful Ocean every day! The blue holes were amazing and the water is beautifully clear and blue. We did not have a worry in the world with James on site to help with anything we had questions about... And Oscar the lab. Thank you for an amazing time that we plan on making a yearly event. We arrived via Nassau to Freport from the Uk.We opted to be met and taken to Basset Cove. The villa is stunnig, spacious and is also the show home. Wide screen TV all channels including soccer,even more than back home! pleased the other half. We were able to relax on the patio or walk straight down to the coves and the Sea. So clear and perfect to swim and snorkel. We brought our geer and also fished the blue holes from the shore.A really great experiece for all. On site reception centre for free inernet our skype calls home and local shop and takeaway and bar restaurant. We really made friends with the locals, they took us fishing twice and we were all sad to leave. This is our new hideaway that we hope to return and rent next year. We went into town to do a swim with the dolphins trip and then after a restauant in port Lucaya where we dined and enjoyed the free live entertainment. WE walked accross the road to the Casino and then back to our hideaway. Safe to walk here and they are very old fashioned English speaking, courtious and friendly. No traffic jams. The whole Island is huge and not too many people. Highly recommended, the perfect getawy.
