Each studio apartment has a breathtaking view over Castara Bay with a fully fitted kitchen, separate bathroom, sofa bed, table, chairs and a kingsize bed and canopy. There is a breeze off the sea as well as fans to keep you cool. The beach is a minute from your door with a bar/restaurant. Castara is a small, friendly fishing village with several restaurants and bars and 2 beaches, you are on Heavenly Bay. There are events at some of the restaurants during the week for example on Wednesdays there is dinner with live drums at The Boathouse. You can book boat, rainforest or island tours easily and there is also a car rental next to the beach. The small beach is excellent for a swim and as the reef comes to the shore you not only have an excellent view from your deck but can snorkel to your hearts content. Check in and check out is organised for your convenience and sheets and towels are renewed every 3/4 days. |

I've given a 5 star rating on the basis that we had a truly memorable holiday. If you want 5 star luxury and mod cons then you need to look elsewhere. This charming apartment is rustic and basic but delivered 100% on what we were looking for. The verandah area is simply breathtaking and we didn't tire of watching nature at its very best. If you want an "away from it all" break then Castara is for you, The locals make you very welcome and are eager to share some rum with you :-) The beautiful reef and beach (on your doorstep!) was spectacular. Stand out meals at the Boathouse and Shirmas. Wednesday drumming night is not to be missed. We will be returning .....
Certainly a room with a view that's worth crossing the Atlantic for! Larger than the pix make it look with an extended and spacious veranda right over the sea - 30 secs away for your pre breakfast swim. A reef extending to the point of the bay with a wide range of corals in good condition populated by a diverse marine life - turtles, large angel fish, shoals in myriad colours and southern rays up to 2m wide - make this amongst the best snorkelling on Tobago! Basic though clean kitchen and shower with cool water only but does what you need. Very comfy king size bed with large net canopy, no bitey things whilst we were there, ceiling fan keeps you cool at night, all doors and windows with nets - keep them open to hear the symphony of sea as you fall easily asleep! Good selection of local style restaurants, run by locals, to eat well at lunch and eve - generous plates mean you need to swim a lot - which here is a joy!
This property is located in a spot among the locals with great views. Sharon is an attentive host and very approachable. The property is very basic but very clean. Please note there is no hot water supply in the apartment, not even solar. The surroundings are not always peaceful and tranquil with the Boat House restaurant just meters away so expect drums on a Wednesday night and maybe an extended party to 1am with loud music. Join in or accept you are in the heart of local life and not in a false resort. The apartment is located up a short steep hill and some steep steps so not suitable for the infirm. Car rental is very convenient through Taylors auto rentals, whose workshop and office is a few steps away from the property. Avoid the tired out jeeps, ours went wrong three times and if it wasn't for the base being next door would have been very inconvenient. They do have newer cars and we discovered you don't need a 4x4 on Tobago roads. A very nice stay in a laid back place, eating out is interesting with all places serving the same menu and some with very basic hosting skills. Not all restaurants open every night so If staying in Castara you will need a car. The beach is very small and high tides leave very little space to sit, the sea can be quite rough with under currents and not recommended for children swimming alone. This is really an adults only area.
The Boat view Apartments have a beautiful vista of Little Bay, where the water is stunning and crystal clear. I had a nice, relaxing stay in the Purple Room. I'd say that if you are a real "Type A" traveler, this spot might not be for you since the cleanliness of the room perhaps left something to be desired. But I really did not mind since the vibe is relaxing, Sharon is super duper helpful and the food at the Boat House is out of this world. If you want to go somewhere and really disconnect, kick back and enjoy some incredible snorkelling and beach time... this is a great option!
Situated in one of the most beautiful villages on the island this accomodation offers everything you need for the true Tobagonian experience: Modest yet cosy rooms, fully equipped kitchen, big sunny balcony with stunning view over Castara beach which is only a 1 minute walk away. Sharon, who owns the place is a real sweetheart - she takes care and makes you feel really comfortable. Also she runs a very nice restaurant at the beach, providing cool beverages and authentic Caribbean food. I stayed here several times now, I always loved it. Please be aware, that your luxury will not consist of marble tiles here, but of the the gentle sound of the breaking waves, some motmots posing on your balcony and the feeling that the world might be alright after all. At least at this place.
